ME1 - The Sacred Monastery of Varlaam, Meteora: The Scared Monastery of Varlaam is the second largest monastery in the Metéora complex. It was built in 1541 and embellished in 1548. A church, dedicated to All Saints, is in the Athonite type is surrounded by a dome.
ME2 - Monastery of the Holy Trinity, Meteora: The Holy Trinity Monastery (also known as Agia Triada, Ayías Triádhos, Ayia Triada; all meaning "Holy Trinity") is an Eastern Orthodox monastery. It is situated at the top of a rocky precipice over 400 meters high and forms part of 24 monasteries which were originally built at Meteora
ME3 - Monastery St Nicolaos Anapafsas, Meteora: The monastery was abandoned by 1900 and fell into disrepair until it was renovated in the 1960s. It was then inhabited by Father Palamas until 1982, after which the monastery closed. In 1997, priests of Kalampaka began to open the monastery to tourists every summer. Today, one monk lives at Agios Nikolaos, the abbot archimandrite Polykarpos Venetis.

ME4 - Monastery of the Holy Trinity, Meteora: At one time, fifty monks lived at Holy Trinity, but by the early twentieth century, there were only five. Only one monk currently lives there, working as a guide through the church, refectory, and the courtyard.
ME5 - The Sacred Monastery of Varlaam, Meteora: The Monastery of Varlaam was named after its founder, the ascetic monk Varlaam who lived in a cave as a hermit and built a chapel on top of a rock. In the 16th century , two brothers, Theophanis and Nektarios Apsaradas who were both monks, enlarged the chapel and built a monastery.
ME6 - Monastery St Nicolaos Anapafsas, Meteora: Hermits seem to have first occupied this rock in the early 14th century, as evidenced by remains of frescoes in the Chapel of St. Anthony. The present monastery was founded in 1510 by St. Dionysius, Metropolitan of Larisa, and Nikanoras, priest-monk and exarch of Stagoi.

ME7 - Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron, Meteora: The Monastery of the Transfiguration of Christ or Great Meteoron stretches in sixty acres at the top of the rock Platys Lithos at an altitude 610. It is the largest monastery of Meteora and the first in the order of the monastic city. It is also the oldest. It was founded in 1344 by Athanasius the Meteorite.
ME8 - Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron, Meteora: Athanasios' successor was Saint Iosaph, a Serbian king formerly known as John Uros who abandoned worldly power to become a monk here in c.1373. Over the course of his 40-year life at Great Meteoron, he rebuilt the Church of the Transfiguration and added monastic building including monks' cells, a hospital, and a cistern.
ME9 -Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron, Meteora: The Great Meteoron reached its peak in the 16th century, when it received significant imperial and royal donations. The Church of the Transfiguration was rebuilt in 1544-45 and the monastic complex was expanded later in the century with a new kitchen, a tower, a home for the aged, a refectory and several chapels.

ME10 - The Sacred Monastery of Varlaam, Meteora: The monastery was founded in 1517 and was decorated in 1548 by Frangos Kastellanos, . It has another church to the north side, dedicated to the Three Bishops: St Basil the Great, St Gregory the Theologian and St John the Chrysostom. This church, known as the Chapel of the Three, was built in 1627 and has a square-shape cross on the roof.
ME11 - Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron, Meteora: In the center stands the catholicon, a church with a square cross plan and lateral apses. The sanctuary is the only original part of the church and has frescoes of saints dressed for battle; it is separated from the nave by an iconostasis with remarkable icons. The refectory is roofed with domes; it houses the Treasury of icons and manuscripts.
ME12 - The Sacred Monastery of Varlaam, Meteora: Over a period of twenty-two years using a tower and a rope and pulley system with a basket, The hieromonks Theophanis and Nektarios Apsaradas, hoisted the materials needed for construction of their monastery. After all the materials were in place, they built the main monastery church, the katholikon dedicated to All Saints, in twenty days.

ME13 - Agios Stefanos Monastery, Meteora: Moni Aghiou Stefanou was founded by St. Antoninus Cantacuzene in the 14th Century. The monastery suffered damage in the 20th century: it was bombed during World War II and desecrated during the subsequent Civil War. St. Stephen's was virtually abandoned until 1961, when it became a nunnery. It is currently inhabited by 28 nuns led by Abbess Agathi Antoniou.
ME14 - The Holy Monastery of Saint Rousanou, Meteora: The Holy Monastery of Rousanou is dedicated to ‘The Transfiguration’ but honoured to Saint Barbara. The ‘Katholikon’, in the Athonite type, was founded in the middle of 16th century and decorated in 1560.

ME16 - Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron, Meteora: The first small church became the holy place of the great church. It has significant paintings of the Macedonian School since 1483. Wonderful frescoes are also in the main church and the narthex. There are also the old chapels of the Virgin Mary, of John the Baptist and of the Saints Constantine and Helen; also the new chapel of St. Nectarios.
ME17 - Christ Pantocrator, Holy Monastery of Great Meteoron, Meteora: In Christian iconography, Christ Pantocrator refers to a specific depiction of Christ. Pantocrator is, used in this context, as a translation of one of many Names of God in Judaism.
ME18 - Monastery of the Holy Trinity, Meteora: The monastery’s main cathedral was constructed in the 15th century and decorated with frescoes in 1741 by two monks. The wall-paintings surviving today are the work of the hagiographers Antonios the priest and his brother Nicolaos.
